Pregnancy with Norah: Weeks 28-31

Wow, nearly a month has passed since I posted a pregnancy update.  I really have been waiting b/c there has not been much to update.  My symptoms and everything have stayed pretty much the same until I hit 30 weeks... holy heartburn and reflux!!!

So without further ado here are a few stats from the past week and stay tuned for a medical update on Norah at the very bottom of this post:

  • Maternity clothes? Yep, I might should just remove this question from now on b/c it's going to be a big fat "yes" to everything.
  • Movement? Norah's movement has died down a bit which I've been told is normal since she is running out of room.  She likes to get her feet under my right ribs and seems to be most active at night time.
  • Sleep? Sleep would be great if my hips didn't ache and go numb, reflux calmed down and bladder was larger. ;)  It takes me a while to get in a comfortable position with my reflux being so bad and then I'm up at least every 2 hours to use the bathroom.
  • Symptoms? Still having tons of Braxton Hicks, raging reflux and starting to feel really tired again.
  • Food cravings? Just about everything but I'm trying to cut back on anything greasy and acidic in hopes it will help my reflux although it seems even a glass of water causes my reflux to act up.  I'm especially craving pasta and dairy right now.
  • Labor signs? Nope, just lots of Braxton Hicks.
  • Best moment of the past few weeks? We had an awesome appointment yesterday, got to see Norah in 3D and are getting lots done at home in preparation for her arrival.  At the appointment yesterday we got to see Norah practice breathing.  The doctors were running a bit behind so the ultrasound tech flipped on the 3D/4D.  Wow, it was so cool!!! We got some awesome shots!!!  I have pasted two at the bottom.  I absolutely can't wait to meet her!!!

  • We had a check-up with our perinatologist at UAB in Bham yesterday.  It appears that the fluid on Norah's brain has stabilized and may have decreased a bit.  This is awesome news!  Considering her head is measuring 2.5 weeks ahead, this is all a great sign that her brain development isn't being hindered.  We still won't know her special needs or if she even has any until she is born.  Right now the doctor doesn't think that the hydrocephalus will resolve itself to the point to where she can avoid surgery, but we are praying that God decides to surprise us all and we know He is more than able.  We asked the doc if she has ever seen it resolve at this gestational age and she said, "I've seen crazier things happen."  So that's kind of exciting.  We will see though!  Either way, we are feeling so much better about things and that is surely not a result of anything but prayer and peace that only comes from the Lord
