I wish so badly I can take credit for this super cute idea, but unfortunately I can't... my hubby can though. I drug J to Hobby Lobby one day and we were walking around looking for nursery decor ideas when we passed the section with outdoor decor. J, being the the more creative and outside-of-the-box thinker, pointed to a stack of windcatchers in the same color as our nursery bedding and other decor, and he said, "What if you made a mobile out of these?"
Genius!
Yes, I married this guy! I'm pretty lucky! ;)
So we gathered five windcatchers and headed home. I've been so excited to start this project and as much as I would like to say I did most of the assembly... I didn't. I mostly sat back and watched J and handed him things. Like I mentioned in the post about the glider... he loves putting things together so I took a backseat to this project. He did such a great job as I tried to document the process.
First we gathered the windcatchers, scissors, fishing line and small white ceiling hooks.
Then J took the wooden stakes/dowels/whatchamadoogies off. We saved the plastic spacers that were between the two braces of the windcatchers.
Next we laced the fishing line through one brace, then through the plastic spacer and finally through the other brace and tied a knot. We were able to rotate the knot till it allowed the windcatchers to hang at a slight angle from the white ceiling hooks.
J then took the white ceiling hooks and screwed them into the ceiling.
Finally he hung the windcatchers from the hooks at different heights and.... taaaadddddaaaaaaa!!!! The pictures really truly do not do them justice. They look much more eye catching and intricate in person.
Coosa and Piper also got into the fun by chewing up the wooden stake-things and making a lovely mess. But, aren't they adorable?!

Thanks so much gals! I think we are going to add a few more windcatchers. Like I said, sure wish I could take credit... but I guess I can take credit for marrying the right guy. haha.
