Playing Hookie & Nursery Update

After much debate, we decided to play hookie from our birthing class this week. Despite how much I look forward to the laughs that we have in the class, I was dreading the relaxation techniques about 10 times as much. They make you sit on the floor, which is uncomfortable enough, and then they have you basically sitting up with no back rest or anything. My stomach has taken over my torso and is working its way into my chest so sitting up with no back support makes me feel like I'm doing a constant crunch without the ability to breath. All that to say... we skipped this week and went shopping. Well... we intended to go shopping for stuff for little girls' room but ended up with a new pair of jeans for J and a few cookies from the Great American Cookie Company. Not that fruitful of a shopping trip.

But, a few things have changed as far as our nursery plans...

  • We have decided to add to the mobile. After staring at it for a while, we decided it needed a bit more flair. I have been working on making some small white pom-poms out of tissue paper (similar to the photo to the right) that I think are going to do the trick. We went back to Hobby Lobby to look for some more windcatchers but they didn't have them in stock anymore. :( So pom-poms it is!

  • Also, we worked and worked on the wall collage, but ended up nixing the whole idea. After hanging the mobile we decided there were too many pops of randomness and we needed something a bit more structured to anchor the room. After looking around for a while in... yep, you guessed it... Hobby Lobby... we decided on these two large picture frames. I am in the process of painting them white and have come up with some unique ways to fill the smaller frames that are within the larger frame. Did that make any sense? I didn't think so. No worries... I will do a whole post dedicated to it later.
So that is pretty much where we are at as far as the nursery goes. I am hoping to get those two things finished up this weekend. Then we can move on to finding a rug and cleaning everything and organizing.

I think things are slowly but surely coming together! Yay!
