Sanding is for the Birds

It's been about a week since I posted an update on the nursery, so I figured I should pop in and give you a little update...

I. HATE. SANDING.

Is that enough of an update? Okay, probably not... let me expand...

I. HATE. SANDING. WITH. EVERY. FIBER. OF. MY. BEING.

Okay, tantrum over.

As I mentioned in the last nursery update, our next project was sanding and painting the crib and the changing table. We were very blessed to be given a barely used crib and changing table. However, after J did all of the beautiful wainscoting and we got the paint on the walls, we came to one conclusion... stained wood just aint gonna work. So, it was decided that we sand and paint the crib white (well I wanted to do this gray finish to it but couldn't quite convince J).

So for the past week or so we have been sanding... and sanding... and sanding and sanding and sanding. I honestly didn't think it would be this much of a task. The bed is a sleigh style, and the doesn't feature that much detail. However, there are so many little nooks and crannies. It is taking forever!

I pretty much had a little comeapart Saturday night, ran inside and immediately started search "white cribs" on craigslist.com. Although I was very tempted to fork out $70 for a crib only 20 minutes away, my crazy, budget-conscious self backed down.

I know this is going to take time. Luckily we have started on the nursery at a decent time in this pregnancy, so we have plenty of time. I just need to learn to be patient... something I am not very good at.

Hang in there!! It will all be worth it very soon. I can't wait to see pics of the newly sanded crib when it is finished. :-)
