Baby Girl at 26 Weeks

We're going to be sticking with the eggplant for a few weeks, so no new fruit for this week. However, here are a few of the major development milestone for this week:

  • Baby girl measures about 14 inches long and weighs about 1.7 pounds.

  • Her eyes will begin to open at this time.

  • A fetal brain scan will show response to touch... Experts say you can touch and play with the baby and they will respond to the touch through my belly.

  • Brain growth continues with brain wave activity for the visual and auditory systems.

  • She is probably at her most active... most actives weeks are typically between 24 weeks and 28 weeks.
How's mama doing? Maternity clothes? I'm still being stubborn about changing over to maternity tops but I'm definitely wearing out my two pairs of maternity pants. Movement? Oh yes! She's a bouncer that's for sure. Stretch marks? I'm sticking with the Palmer's regimen and so far no stretch marks but I'm not that big so there is still plenty of time. Sleep? I either sleep really really well or I hardly sleep at all. There's not much in between. I've been avoiding turning the air down more b/c our power bill is going to kill us but last night I was so uncomfortable that I think it's about time to just bite the bullet. Symptoms? This is really weird but my legs itch. It's very strange. I get these really small bumps under the skin. It doesn't look like a rash but they are all around my calves and they itch like nobody's business. Also, I'm starting to get more and more tired. So sad I'm starting to lose my second trimester energy boost. My nose is getting out of control... I smell everything, especially women's perfumes (I will purposely walk around someone so I don't have to smell their perfume). Food aversions? Cake! For some reason we had tons of cake in the office kitchen... bday cake and seven-layer cake. Just the smell of the icing was too much. Food cravings? Ugh... everything but cake. Haha! I'm always in the mood for red meat and anything with tomatoes in it. Labor signs? Naw! What I miss? Nothing... really! I wouldn't trade this for anything. Best moment of the week? Feeling my whole stomach move when she is jumping around in there! As of right now she has a good bit of room to get around and she loves her space.

I hope you all have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend!!!
