1. "Ugh! That's no fun! What if I wanted to monogram something?"
2. "Good for you! I wish I would have done that!"
We have several reasons why we decided to keep her name a secret, and here are a few reasons why:
- What if I change my mind? I know this sounds totally kooky, but I'm a kook and think that when she comes into this world her name needs to fit her. I want to have the ability to change her name.
- I really don't want anyone's opinion to sway my decision. Don't worry... we are picking a perfectly suitable name. She will not be mistaken for an exotic dancer or inanimate object (although some of those names are perfectly ok). I just don't want anyone's reaction to sway our decision.
- Okay. Sit down. I know this is going to blow your mind, but... we're not that into monogrammed things. Not b/c we think they are silly or think we are better than them. We simply just think it may help to not have a lot of monogrammed things if the Lord decides to bless us with another child. Please, do not go rolling your eyes. I think monogrammed outfits and blankets are adorable! I think this reason has gotten the most stern looks because here in the south every other female above the age of 25 owns a monogramming machine. Let me reiterate... We are not anti-monogramming. We just want to keep it to a few pieces here and there. Trust me... we love her initials and think they are super cool. They don't spell out anything inappropriate, so that has nothing to do with it. Promise!
- Don't you want something to be a surprise??? I mean, yes, we know the name but we are looking forward to sharing it with everyone who walks through our hospital room door. Just like back in the old days where the husband would pace outside the delivery room and then go tell all the guests "It's a boy" or "It's a girl"... we want to be able to present some sort of a surprise to our wonderful friends and family.
Now, for those of you that I haven't had a chance to explain why we are keeping the name on the DL... there you go! I hope our reasoning makes a bit of sense to you.
And, if you want to call her by a name... My Paw-Paw loving names everyone he loves a nickname, and he has already dubbed her Drewscilla. Yep, Drewscilla. Doesn't she sound just down right delicate and charming!? Haha! So feel free to call her Drewscilla!
