Pregnancy Week 25 with Norah

We got some very encouraging news about the fluid on Norah's brain at our last appointment.  This was the third doctor we have been too and we are sticking with her.  Not because she gave us "happier" news but b/c she was thorough, compassionate and has a game plan.  Basically Norah has hydrocephalus but her brain and the rest of her body otherwise appears perfect.  Her brain is not thinning out as the last doctor told us.  This doctor said everything really looks great.  Norah will likely have a shunt placed soon after birth.  As far as developmental delays, there is no real way they can tell if she will have any or how severe they may be if she does.  But, to hear that her brain looks perfect otherwise, is such a wonderful thing.   We hope to meet with a pediatric neurosurgeon this Friday if they can squeeze us in.  If we can't meet with him then, we will meet with him in August.

So right now we are planning on a c-section some time around Sept. 13 (I will be 39 weeks) at UAB and then her shunt placement likely the following day at Children's Hospital right down the street.  Prayers appreciated!

Not much has changed since the last update:
  • Maternity clothes? I am definitely in maternity pants and all maternity tops, except of course t-shirts and tank tops which is what you will find me in most days.
  • Movement? We have really gotten to watch her move a lot this week.  So much fun!
  • Sleep? Who needs it? haha... uh, I think Jerrod would agree that I can't function with adequate amounts of sleep so I've been very tired and grumpy. I mainly wake up due to bathroom breaks, hip pain and reflux.
  • Symptoms? Allergies have come and gone this week.  For some reason I have had them pretty bad right at bedtime which seems backwards to me.  My reflux has gotten a tad worse.  But on a positive note, my skin looks great! :)
  • Food cravings? Everything.  I love everything.  Even doughnuts this week.
  • Food aversions? None. haha
  • Labor signs? I get Braxton Hicks towards the end of the day.
  • Best moment of the week? Getting great news from a new and awesome doctor! Thank you Lord!
