Baby Girl at 23 Weeks

According to the The Bump, I am going to be carrying a papaya for a couple of weeks, so no new fruit for this week. However, I did find this kind of cool (kind of creepy) picture of what the baby supposedly looks like right now.

Major milestones for this week:

  • Sense of balance develops... this is when the baby will begin to realize if she is upside down or right side up. I have definitely noticed more movement at night while I'm swapping from one side to the other, so I think she is definitely starting to get her bearings in there.

  • Skin pigment is now forming.

  • Baby girl is now proportioned like a newborn... just a very thin looking newborn.

  • Baby is now producing insulin.

How's mama doing: Maternity clothes? Still fighting the urge to swap over to maternity tops. Definitely can't wear my pants or skirts anymore. Movement? Yes, yes yes! She is becoming quite active at night. I usually feel her some time mid-morning through lunch. Then she takes a nap, and she's back flipping and kicking in the late afternoon. Stretch marks? Not yet. I started on Palmer's this week. I know they say it's hereditary and there's nothing you can do but by golly I'm at least going to try. Sleep? I am sleeping much better, but the dreams are out of control. I'm debating a whole posts on some of the crazy dreams I've had lately. Symptoms? Same ole, same ole... getting a bit of tummy itch due to stretching (I'm assuming). My appetite is crazy! Food aversions? Still aint feeling the Mexican food or the heavy desserts. Food cravings? Fruit and balanced meals -- this little girl demands a meat, veggie and carb almost every meal. Labor signs? Nope. What I miss? Nothing!!!! Best moment of the week? We had a doc's appointment yesterday. Her heartbeat was good and everything seems to be on track. Next appointment will be the one-hour glucose test and the beginning of my third trimester visits which will be every three weeks. Wow, time is flying by, but that really is fine with me. I can't wait to meet this little girlie!
