Can't Believe I'm Defending Ms. Simpson

I never thought I would do this... but I am here to defend Jessica Simpson! Yes, you read that correctly!

Nothing disgusts me more than people calling Jessica Simpson fat. I'm gonna go on a bit of a rant for a second or minute or 30 minutes... feel free to opt out at any moment.

First of all, if Jessica Simpson is fat, I am morbidly obese.

Second of all, I happen to enjoy the more voluptuous Jessica. I don't know about you, but she seems to have her wits about her and a better head on her shoulders. Don't get me wrong, I kind of enjoyed the chicken of the sea jokes and shamefully admit I laughed on the inside when her dog was eaten by a coyote, but last night on Letterman she was downright levelheaded and had an intriguing, spunky wit when it came to discussing John Mayer's disgusting expose in Playboy magazine.

Third of all, we all remember the car washing video during her Daisy Duke days. I lost a great deal of respect for her. Now I'm not going to sit here and say I wouldn't like to look like that in a swimsuit, but I do hope that if I ever get to that size you will never see me parading around with a bucket of soap in a string bikini singing about how my boots are made for walking.

All this to say, I think she showed the best version of herself last night. Respect reestablished! My favorite point of her interview with Letterman was the part where she stated, "I don't think women strive to be thin and beautiful for men but for other women." Amen sister! I think it is a shame how we all tare ourselves down when in actuality a man that truly loves you will love you whether you look like Jessica Simpson on the cover of Rolling Stone or Jessica Simpson on the cover of a recent issue of US Weekly. It is all about your confidence! If we would stop bashing each other and comparing ourselves to one another and realize that we are all made in the image of the Lord... I think we would cut out all the self destruction.

Now let me clarify... I do not know Jessica Simpson nor do I typically follow her life, but I did happen upon the Letterman show last night, and I thought she did an excellent job holding herself together which I believe deserved a pat on the back. I also think God can use anyone, be it celebrities or everyday people, to relay a message of hope to His children. Maybe that is what He was doing last night? You never know! He works in crazy ways... who am I to say He doesn't use Jessica Simpson? He's done crazier things!

Gen. 1:27 -- So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
James 1:18 -- He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.
