J and I recently spent a weekend in Atlanta. We had an amazing time celebrating our upcoming anniversary. We went to Six Flags -- only one of the funnest places on earth -- and we ate some fabulous food and stayed in a hotel with one heck of a view! We were so fortunate to get to spend this time together. However, as is any trip we go on, it was not without its happenings. On Sunday we left church and rode around trying to find somewhere to eat. Just North of Atlanta, we had no idea where we were going so we finally settled on a decent restaurant chain that will remain nameless.
This particular restaurant is not our favorite but as evident by our growling stomachs, we were desperate. I decided to order my usual pasta dish and J decided to precede his burgers with a salad bar. Sitting very patiently, we chatted about our trip and how much we were not ready to head home.
Our waiter came and placed our dishes in front of us, and we began to dig in. Well sort of. I looked down only to see something very peculiar in my food... don't worry... it wasn't a fingernail, hair or bug. It wasn't anything necessarily repulsive, but it was a "portion bag." Apparently, some restaurants measure out the portions for certain dishes and place them in a bag. I'm assuming the bag was accidentally dropped in the pasta and heated that way. So much for fresh food! Now, I am not telling this story to complain because in fact my portion was not due to expire until the following Thursday. Wahooo!!! I am telling this story to say... not all times that restaurants mess up your order is it a bad thing. I ended up getting my food for free and a dessert on the house. Restaurants can leave portion bags in my food any day if I'm going to get a free dessert out of it!
