Hurricane Bear Bryant

Today, our household will rejoice as cable is once again restored to our televisions. After a crazy past year of failing businesses, a stint as a barista, a husband going into ministry and me having three different jobs (at different times of course)... cable was one of the first things to go in our home. It was either that or the kid we adopted in Africa... and well... I think you see where I'm going. The cable had to go. Once our lives started to fall into place, we debated for several months on even subscribing to cable again.

One day we went to lunch with a good friend of ours at Eastside Grille in Montgomery. While we were sitting eating I noticed everyone looking at the television screens. All the TVs were turned to the Weather Channel. There was a tropical storm headed right for us, and I had no idea! J turned to me and said, "Does this convince you, we may need cable?"

"I guess, but not really," I stated. "I mean we could just make it a point to go to Weather.com (we kept Internet) every other day." I was still not convinced. I grew up without cable so it never really occurred to me that we were missing anything, but then one day it hit me. I turned on the radio to 101.9 and there played one of the most beautiful songs... "Hey Alabama... drown 'em tide..."

I was convinced. All that to say... we are getting cable. I can not miss Alabama football. No way Jose!

I have just started reading your blog and like it very much!

I saw the "barista" comment. I was one for almost ten years. It can be a fun but grueling job!

We don't have cable either and I miss it ever so much!

Hello Connie! Welcome! Being a barista was an awesome experience but definitely grueling! I have to admit that I am thrilled to be on the cable-train. Although, I think I would be fine without it. I will be sure to wander on over to your blog! Have a great week!
