Never say never - Mommy Must-Haves

Before I had a baby, people would always say, "Never say never! Just wait until you have a baby!" And sure, I took that advice about a lot of things... dealing with crying, sleep schedules, feeding schedules, etc. But, I never knew it could apply to the things that I would actually buy. So, here I am, with tail tucked between my legs, saying... "I was wrong." All you moms were right, and here are a few things that I never thought I would use, never wanted to use, or never thought I should invest in but simply couldn't live without since having Z...

Pacifier Wipes: Just buy them! Trust me. When you are out in Target clear across the store, in the car traveling somewhere, in a grocery store, at a friends house... and you drop the pacifier, a dog tries to lick the pacifier (happens at our house all the time) or are just not sure which one is clean and which isn't, these wipes are a huge convenience.
Bulb syringe: I saw these before, mostly in hospitals when visiting friends and passing by the well-baby nursery, but I never ever realized how important they are. Zoey absolutely hates them. Not a big crier., you are sure to get a good scream out of Zoey with this, but she can't blow her own nose. I hate using it but I take it everywhere we go.
Baby leggings: I really thought these were just for looks. I mean, who can deny these are adorable. However, after throwing them on Z one day... I will be buying many many more of these. When you have a baby that spits up or drools and sometimes seems warm and other times cool, these leggings are so easy. Just swap the onesie or slide them off when you want to swaddle her or if she seems warm. So easy!

Angelcare Monitors: This is definitely one of those things I scoffed at before I had Zoey. However, our precious one had an apnea spell in the well-baby nursery about 3 hours after birth when she stopped breathing for about 20 seconds. Luckily the nurses were about to get her back breathing. She was immediately ordered to the NICU for several days of surveillance, and I was ordered to the loony bin. Haha. Just kidding... but I did struggle A LOT with worry. After much prayer and reading of reviews of these monitors, we decided that it was a good decision to invest in these monitors. They are WONDERFUL! I recommend them to anyone, even if you have never had a baby that had a breathing issue or have not had a baby yet. The monitors softly chirp as it senses movement, but not in an obnoxious way. And, if that gets on your nerves you can simply listen out for the alarm that will sound if it hasn't sensed movement (i.e. breathing) for several seconds. My only complaint is that they are not especially loud. We still use the monitors my parents got us b/c they are louder and work wonderfully. The Angelcare monitors will only be useful until she starts rolling over more often and moving around in her crib.
