The reason why we are using the smallest room in the whole house when we have two other spacious guest rooms in the house to choose from is b/c this room is right next to ours. The other bedrooms and bathroom is on the other side of the house. This just seems easier with having a baby... that way I won't have to get up and stomp all the way across the house to get to the baby. So for now, and probably until she is a toddler, she will be in the the quaint bedroom next to us... and maybe we'll move her back in when she turns 14 but that will be for other reasons. ;)
That being said, I didn't want bedding that would over power the room. I wanted something that was simple, light and had a cute pattern. The day we found out we were having a girl, J and I headed to Target to buy two little outfits just to celebrate. While we were there, I passed an end-of-the-isle shelf that was selling a bumper... it was perfect! I loved the medallions and the colors. When I got home I searched the brand and sure enough, the whole set was for sale on the Target Web site.
Now before I show you the bedding I chose, let me tell you that I fought off pink for weeks... I thought, if I have a girl the room will not be a pink wonderland. I fought, and I stomped, and I fought, but J suprisingly was all for pink. He said, "If we are having a girl then by golly our house will reflect that. You are not fighting pink." So I caved....

A few days after the bedding came in, we went to Lowes to get a few paint swatch ideas and to also grab some swatches that matched the color from our bedding. My mother in law suggested getting paint swatches that match the bedding colors and keeping them in my purse. This way if I'm out and about and see something I think would be perfect in the room, I won't have to wonder if the colors match. Great idea right?! I thought so too!
Now back to picking paint swatch ideas...
Standing in front of 5,000 paint swatches is very daunting and intimidating. I found myself once again fight off the overly girl-y colors. In the meantime J was pulling one right after the other... lavendar, turquoise, light turquoise, dark lavendar. Then I started pulling gray and charcoal. J stopped me and once again pointed out that I was fighting the girly-ness. He quickly told me to let go and go girl-y. So, I obliged. After getting home, laying the bedding out and taping the swatches to the wall, we came to a conclusion...

Our plan is to put up chair rail and wayne's coating on the bottom and paint the top half this color. Besides that... I got nothing. Not sure where to go from there, but luckily we have plenty of time.
Right now, I have this weird complex about starting real work on the nursery before the rest of the house is tidy. I have been a cleaning machine. All that is left to do is:
- Finish cleaning the master bath.
- Clean the guest bath.
- Dust the guest bedroom.
- Vacuum the guest bedroom.
- Clean the baseboards... okay being realistic, this one will probably never happen.
Then I am ready to start!!!! Can't wait.
Be on the look out for a moodboard. I'm trying to start one in order to get inspiration on how to decorate the rest of the room.
