Needless to say we had quite a few issues painting the front door we purchased for our new home. After getting a little help deciding on a paint color from my awesomely talented design friend, I headed to Sherwin Willliams. Now I don't paint often. Here's a little proof for ya: prior to this wonderful experience, I thought the paint store was in fact called Sherman Williams... as in Bama football. I think you get my point now.
So, I get the paint, head home and the hubs and bestie help me paint the door. It is looking pretty awesome, until we start to take the tape off. With the first peice of painters tape came about an inch of paint. It peeled right off like that glue stuff you peel off the back of adds on pizza boxes. I was totally bumbed! All that work for nothing.
To keep this rather long story short, I'll give you a quick play-by-play:
Sand door --> Clean with hot water --> Prime door --> Sand door --> Clean door with hot water --> Finally, paint door.
Now after dealing with the door, my rather handy (and x-trim carpenter... yes, ladies, my very own in-house carpenter) husband constructed batten shutters to replace the traditional shutters. He threw up the shutters, I threw on the same paint as the door, while he was installing said door and..... waaa laaa! I am over the moon about the results. Here is a before and several after shots:
