Week 1 is finished and so far I love it. It is definitely an adjustment getting up at 6:30am every morning and getting off at 5:30pm. Often times I was just clocking in at Starbucks around 5pm, so this is VERY different to say the least.
I know this may sound silly, but I was sincerely worried about making that transition. I have problems falling asleep at night. Always have... my parents even claim to have given me Benadryl for the first few years of my life to leave them with a little bit of sanity (after all we know what happens when you don't get much sleep... all work and no play make jack a dull boy... redrum... I think you get the picture). It takes me, on a good night, about an hour to go to sleep. I know it may seem petty, but this really was something I was truly worried about. Nevertheless, I prayed a lot about the transition. This week has gone a lot smoother than I thought it would, and the Lord has provided (as always) me with plenty of energy in the mornings and sleepies in the evening to help me with the schedule. Last night I was asleep by 9:30pm. 9:30PM!!!! If any of you know me, that is CRAZY!
Aside from the sleeping schedule change, the work environment has been interesting to say the least. I get a whole hour for lunch. I can take a break if I need one. I don't have to ask to go to the bathroom. Silly, I know, but I feel like such a grown up now. I get business cards in a week! woop woop! I get to wear pretty clothes. No more mocha stains. No more drive-thru. No more sour milk smell. No more cleaning moldy drains.
All that to say, I'm enjoying it!
