All Alone Stone

On Saturday I spent all day cleaning and finishing up decorating the house. After a few hours of organizing, nailing and purging I had to put some things in storage. I walked down to the bottom of the hill in our back yard to the storage building. I opened the door put a few things in, ran back up the hills to fetch a few more things and ran back down the hill to put the last bags in storage before playing soccer with Coosa for a while. Later that evening I noticed that the kitten I got Jerrod for Valentine's was missing. She had been staying outside for the past week, but always came when her name was called and rarely was outside of our yard. By night fall I became worried that something was wrong. You see Stone was suitably named by Jerrod for her laid back and chill demeanor. Loud noises never scared her, strangers were nonexistent, and dogs were only a louder cat in Stone's eyes. Sunday and Monday passed and still no Stone. When Monday night arrived, I found myself crying for fear that a large dog had gotten hold of her or our neighbors had enjoyed a nice little stone for dinner (after you see 4 dogs in their backyard get fattened up and disappearing in a matter of months, you would think the same thing).

Finally, today I decided to just sit on the back deck and yell her name between making that weird noise that you make to call cats. The neighbors behind us have a large black cat that often meows loudly, so when I repeatedly heard a loud meow after ever scream of "STONE!" I was not surprised. Then I noticed that the meows would abruptly stop when I stopped calling. After every call I heard a meow. Jerrod called for me to get in the car to go to the bank, but I insisted that he listen to the meow echoing my calls for Stone. I kept calling as he walked down the hill in the backyard. Suddenly Jerrod went running towards the storage room, swung open the door and was quickly greeted by a beautiful, brown tabby, bright green-eyed feline. It was Stone! She had climbed in the storage room while I was packing some things. She had been in there for 4 days! Thank the Lord we found her! Now that she is safely indoors she won't leave our side, constantly head-butts our legs and rubs up against Coosa and bites his ears every chance she gets!
